...I started being a pesky parent today, and was asking horrifying and terrible questions of my oldest daughter. She is 11 years old, in Grade 6 and 90 pounds. You heard me...90 pounds. She is 5 foot 2 3/4 inches. That's 62 3/4 inches tall. Out of curiousity (and because I can run faster and for longer than she can o.O )I went online and checked her BMI...16.3

A healthy BMI is 18-24 or so. This means that my oldest daughter is severely underweight.

I am honestly confused as to how this could be. Her diet is in no way low fat. Whole fat milk, whole fat cheese.. High calorie meals left and right, since it is pretty well an ethnic/cultural thing.

I am confused. I know her metabolism could be off, but that doesn't explain it all. I know the time she spends away from home with her father's family is cause for concern. He is always on some kind of stupid diet and so he has nothing in his house :eyeroll: Last time was the Atkins Diet.

So, here's my question. Kassandra understands that she needs to eat more when she is away from home. At his house, she might eat once or twice a day and snack the rest of the time on whatever he has (often cereal or chips) But, her father is stubborn and often refuses to believe me when it comes to things like this.

Example : It took me three years to convince him that she needed her glasses. According to him, I was trying to get more money out of him. I never asked him to buy her glasses. My own father did that for the first four or five years because I couldn't afford it.

I am at a loss as to how the hell I tell him (and his batshit crazy family) that she needs this. She needs to put on 15 pounds to be healthy, most of that muscle. She can hardly walk for a block before complaining that something hurts, and you can see most of her bones under her skin. Hips and shoulders especially -.-

Not that many people really, particularly care about my family issues but I thought that perhaps someone might see it a bit different or be a bit more...informed? A doctor's visit is certainly in order and I will do that at my earliest chance

Did anyone have a similar problem at some point? Or know someone who did? No need for names ^-^ Just advice? Please? *gives puppy eyes*
